All my pieces are meant, not only to be contemplated but also to be touched, handled and manipulated to promote the closeness between spectator and art, which would hopefully lead to familiarity and confidence, necessary to overcome the distance between the two, most probably caused by the fast and wild evolution of the artistic tendencies of the last century.
That tactile consciousness led me to appreciate, when became aware of it, Braille printing: besides its obvious functional benefits, it felt so good on my fingertips!
When I decided to make a piece in the shape of a rubber stamp, immediately made the connection with the printing method for the blind. The combination would give me all I am looking always for: visual and tactile aesthetics as well as a good paradox, one of those I greatly enjoy. Braille (2009) was as fulfilling as fun to make.
The $289.77 price includes one piece.
